YOU | NL provides relocation and consultancy services. In the course of our services, we process personal data. This Privacy Statement explains how we collect, use, and protect your information in accordance with the Dutch General Data Protection Regulation (AVG/GDPR).
1. DATA CONTROLLER
YOU | NL is the data controller responsible for processing your personal data.

Depending on the specific service, we may process the following:
General Information: Name, gender, date and place of birth, and nationality.
Contact Details: Email address, phone number, and residential address.
Sensitive Data: Citizen Service Number (BSN) and copies of identity documents (Passport/ID).
Note: We advise clients to use the 'KopieID' app or redact their photo and BSN from copies unless strictly required by the specific authority.
Financial & Employment Info: Salary details, employment contracts, and bank account numbers (required for the 30% ruling or housing applications).
Family Data: Information about partners and children if relocating as a family.
Digital Data: IP address, browser type, and website activity.
3. PURPOSE AND LEGAL BASIS
We process your data based on the following legal grounds:
Contractual Necessity: To perform the services agreed upon in our contract.
Legal Obligation: To comply with Dutch tax, labor, and immigration laws (e.g., filings with the IND or Belastingdienst).
Consent: When you sign up for our newsletter or download our E-books.
Legitimate Interest: To improve our services and maintain communication.
4. DATA RETENTION
We do not store your data longer than necessary:
Project Data: Deleted or archived after the service is completed, unless otherwise requested.
Statutory Retention: Financial records and tax-related data are kept for 7 years to comply with Dutch Tax Office (Belastingdienst) requirements.
5. THIRD-PARTY DISCLOSURE
We share data with third parties only when essential for your relocation, such as:
Governmental Bodies: IND, Gemeente (Municipalities), and Belastingdienst.
Service Partners: Real estate agents, insurance providers, or banking institutions.
Processors: IT hosting, cloud storage (e.g., Google Workspace), and email marketing tools.
We ensure that any transfer outside the EEA is protected by Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
6. YOUR RIGHTS
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:
Access & Rectification: View and correct your data.
Erasure: Request deletion of your data (the "right to be forgotten").
Portability: Receive your data in a digital format.

7. SECURITY
We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to secure your data against loss or unauthorized access. This includes encrypted storage and restricted access to sensitive files.
8. COMPLAINTS
If you have concerns about how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
